Cada sess\u00e3o inclui uma visita guiada \u00e0 quinta centrada na agricultura regenerativa e na utiliza\u00e7\u00e3o dos solos, seguida de uma palestra tem\u00e1tica ou de um workshop pr\u00e1tico. O programa \u00e9 de participa\u00e7\u00e3o gratuita e d\u00e1 aos residentes locais e aos visitantes a oportunidade de se envolverem com especialistas enquanto passam tempo ao ar livre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A Mud Valley Foundation concluiu recentemente a primeira temporada dos S\u00e1bados na Quinta e estamos entusiasmados por partilhar um pouco sobre ela. Esta visita guiada, conduzida por um especialista no dom\u00ednio da permacultura e da recupera\u00e7\u00e3o de ecossistemas, \u00e9 uma forma de partilhar as especificidades do que fazemos e como, no contexto real da quinta. As pessoas saem com mais conhecimentos sobre os conceitos de recupera\u00e7\u00e3o de ecossistemas e agricultura regenerativa. N\u00e3o queremos que as pessoas se concentrem apenas na quinta ou na natureza quando falamos de \"ecossistema\". Tamb\u00e9m queremos que aprendam sobre o ecossistema em que vivemos, no que diz respeito a factores sociais, econ\u00f3micos, geogr\u00e1ficos, hist\u00f3ricos e culturais. Por isso, o tema muda de cada vez para apelar a uma variedade de interesses e, ao mesmo tempo, levar as pessoas a pensar de forma mais hol\u00edstica sobre o que as rodeia. Estas sess\u00f5es s\u00e3o tamb\u00e9m organizadas de forma a serem interactivas, encorajando os participantes a envolverem-se mais. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As datas e os temas dos workshops das quatro sess\u00f5es realizadas nesta \u00e9poca foram os seguintes<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-vertical is-layout-flex wp-container-core-group-is-layout-8cf370e7 wp-block-group-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-vertical is-layout-flex wp-container-core-group-is-layout-8cf370e7 wp-block-group-is-layout-flex\">\n<p class=\"has-background\" style=\"background-color:#fff9bf52\"><strong><strong>16 de mar\u00e7o - Workshop de cozinha vegetariana com produtos sazonais, locais e org\u00e2nicos (SLO) <\/strong>Alimenta\u00e7\u00e3o. <\/strong>Maria Quintana de <a href=\"https:\/\/www.valedalama.net\/wild-zymu-foods\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.valedalama.net\/wild-zymu-foods\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Alimentos Zymu Selvagens<\/a> mostrou-nos como fazer uma salada de jardim com pesto fresco e caseiro feito com legumes e verduras biol\u00f3gicas da horta da Vala da Lama.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background\" style=\"background-color:#fff9bf52\"><strong><strong>27 de Abril - \u00c1gua e Restaura\u00e7\u00e3o de Ecossistemas no Sudoeste Algarvio<\/strong>. <\/strong>Este workshop incluiu sess\u00f5es de trabalho em tr\u00eas \u00e1reas, cada uma discutindo diferentes t\u00f3picos relacionados com a educa\u00e7\u00e3o e a\u00e7\u00e3o para a conserva\u00e7\u00e3o da \u00e1gua. Os participantes tamb\u00e9m inclu\u00edram representantes do grupo de cidad\u00e3os REGAR, bem como participantes do Acampamento de Restaura\u00e7\u00e3o de Ecossistemas que se realizou em simult\u00e2neo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background\" style=\"background-color:#fff9bf52\"><strong>25 de Maio - Arqueologia: Lugar Ancestral<\/strong>. Ricardo Soares, arque\u00f3logo municipal de Vila do Bispo, abordou os temas dos menires e da Escrita do Sudoeste Ib\u00e9rico no que diz respeito \u00e0 nossa \u00e1rea local. Falou sobre o sistema de escrita antigo, o seu significado e como ainda estamos a tentar decifr\u00e1-lo completamente.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background\" style=\"background-color:#fff9bf52\"><strong>8 de Junho - Agricultura Biodin\u00e2mica no Barlavento Algarvio, e o Centen\u00e1rio do \"Curso de Agricultores\".<\/strong> Esta palestra aberta deu uma vis\u00e3o geral do conceito de biodin\u00e2mica e apresentou algumas das formas como tem sido implementada localmente. Foi apresentada no \u00e2mbito da Semana da Biodin\u00e2mica no Barlavento Algarvio, um evento multi-programa organizado por v\u00e1rias organiza\u00e7\u00f5es parceiras.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Cada uma das nossas sess\u00f5es dos S\u00e1bados na Quinta teve uma boa participa\u00e7\u00e3o, com cerca de 25 pessoas por sess\u00e3o. O n\u00famero de pessoas foi reduzido para tornar o evento mais \u00edntimo e permitir uma maior intera\u00e7\u00e3o com os guias tur\u00edsticos e os facilitadores dos workshops.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30)\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Melhorar o programa<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>A Funda\u00e7\u00e3o Mud Valley continuar\u00e1 a oferecer o programa S\u00e1bados na Quinta no futuro, aumentando o n\u00famero de sess\u00f5es para partilhar princ\u00edpios regenerativos importantes com mais pessoas. Uma \u00e1rea chave para a melhoria \u00e9 aumentar o n\u00famero de visitantes repetidos do programa. Uma forma de o fazer pode ser oferecer uma s\u00e9rie de workshops relacionados que nos permitam aprofundar um determinado tema, em vez de oferecer workshops ad hoc e com t\u00f3picos d\u00edspares. Each session features a regenerative agriculture and land use-focused guided tour of the farm, followed by a themed lecture or hands-on workshop. The program is free to attend and gives local residents and visitors alike the opportunity to meet and engage with experts while spending time outdoors.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>Mud Valley Institute recently completed the first season of this program and we are excited to share a bit about it. This guided tour, led by an expert in the field of permaculture and ecosystem restoration, is a way to share the specifics of what we do and how, in the actual context of the farm. We don\u2019t want people to just focus on the farm or nature when we say \u201cecosystem\u201d, we also want them to learn about the ecosystem we live in as it relates to social, economic, geographical, historical, and cultural factors. So, the topic changes each time to appeal to a variety of interests while also getting people to think more holistically about what is around them. These sessions are also set up in an interactive manner, so attendees will feel more energy and be more engaged. No one wants to sit there listening to someone talk for an hour and a half, and so we make sure that the structure enables active participation.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>The dates and workshop topics for the four sessions held this season were:<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:group {\"layout\":{\"type\":\"flex\",\"orientation\":\"vertical\"}} -->\n<div class=\"wp-block-group\"><!-- wp:group {\"layout\":{\"type\":\"flex\",\"orientation\":\"vertical\"}} -->\n<div class=\"wp-block-group\"><!-- wp:paragraph {\"style\":{\"color\":{\"background\":\"#fff9bf52\"}}} -->\n<p class=\"has-background\" style=\"background-color:#fff9bf52\"><strong><strong>March 16 - Vegetarian cooking workshop based on seasonal, local and organic (SLO) vegetables<\/strong>. <\/strong>Maria Quintana from Wild Zymu Foods showed us how to make a garden salad that featured fresh, homemade pesto made with organic vegetables and greens from the Vala da Lama garden.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph {\"style\":{\"color\":{\"background\":\"#fff9bf52\"}}} -->\n<p class=\"has-background\" style=\"background-color:#fff9bf52\"><strong><strong>April 27 - Water and Ecosystem Restoration in the Southwest Algarve<\/strong>. <\/strong>This workshop featured breakout sessions in three areas, each discussing different topics related to water conservation education and action. Participants also included attendees of the Ecosystem Restoration Course being held concurrently.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph {\"style\":{\"color\":{\"background\":\"#fff9bf52\"}}} -->\n<p class=\"has-background\" style=\"background-color:#fff9bf52\"><strong>May 25 - Archaeology: Ancestral Place<\/strong>. Ricardo Soares, municipal archaeologist of Vila do Bispo, covered the topics of menirs and the Southwest Iberian Script as they related to our local area. He discussed the ancient writing system, its significance, and how we are still trying to fully decipher it.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph {\"style\":{\"color\":{\"background\":\"#fff9bf52\"}}} -->\n<p class=\"has-background\" style=\"background-color:#fff9bf52\"><strong>June 8 - Biodynamic Agriculture in the Western Algarve, and the Centenary of the \"Farmer's Course\".<\/strong> This open talk gave an overview of the concept of biodynamics and presented some of the ways it has been implemented locally. It was presented as a part of Biodynamics Week in the Western Algarve, a multi-program event put on by a number of partner organizations.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/div>\n<!-- \/wp:group --><\/div>\n<!-- \/wp:group -->\n\n<!-- wp:spacer {\"height\":\"20px\"} -->\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n<!-- \/wp:spacer -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>Each of our sessions was well attended, with about 25 people per session. The audience size was kept low in order to make the event more intimate and allow more interaction with the tour guides and workshop facilitators.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:separator -->\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n<!-- \/wp:separator -->\n\n<!-- wp:spacer {\"height\":\"var:preset|spacing|30\"} -->\n<div style=\"height:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30)\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n<!-- \/wp:spacer -->\n\n<!-- wp:heading {\"level\":4} -->\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Improving the program<\/strong><\/h4>\n<!-- \/wp:heading -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>Mud Valley Institute will continue to offer the Saturdays at the Farm program in the future, scaling up the number of sessions to grow its impact. A key area for improvement is to generate repeat visitors to the program. One way to do this might be to offer a series of related workshops that will allow us to go deeper into the given theme, rather than offering ad hoc and disparate workshop topics.
