Soil Week
We celebrate World Soil Day with a variety of events throughout the week to educate, engage, and inspire people of all ages.

Overview

About World Soil Day

World Soil Day is held annually on 5 December as a means to focus attention on the importance of healthy soil and advocating for the sustainable management of soil resources.

World Soil Day 2025 Theme

The theme for the World Soil Day celebration this year is “Healthy soils for healthy cities”, focusing on the role of soils in cities and the challenges posed by soil sealing and urbanization. With two-thirds of the world’s population expected to live in cities by 2050, soils are the foundations of sustainable and resilient cities.

This page will allow you to learn more about soil and soil health, link to other soil-focused resources and organizations, and learn about the activities that Mud Valley Foundation will be presenting throughout the week as we take part in World Soil Day.
